POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for Financial and Demand Planning for the Marketing, Sales, Service, and International Division. Key responsibilities include: Manages and owns Strategic and Demand Planning (short and long term) for the Marketing and Sales organization. Serves as the Finance Manager of the Business Development Team. Leads the consensus forecasting process between Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain. Owns the detailed monthly item forecast and processes to produce the best possible forecast of future demand (rolling 18 months ). Supervises the analysis of trends, seasonality, promotions and external factors that influence demand in order to support customer service targets with lower inventory and total cost levels. Works with financial analysts to ensure accurate revenue and profit forecasts. The position has 2 direct reports, and reports to the Director of Finance & Accounting.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The nature of the position challenges the incumbent to interact on a weekly basis with multiple functions, at multiple levels within the company. Specifically, this person will interact with Sr. Sales Directors and the Director of Product Management on a weekly basis, and the SVP of Global Business Development on a monthly basis at a minimum. The position will also serve as the Finance Manager of a business development team, where the incumbent will provide financial leadership and reporting to a portfolio of customers.
This position is responsible for providing Demand Planning leadership for the Company, including:
• Leads the monthly detailed forecasting process by coordinating across functional areas.
• Leads the Core S&OP team’s monthly consensus forecast meeting, highlighting changes, implications, and the impact on operations. Proactively manages the Consensus forecast, while challenging Marketing & Sales when appropriate.
• Manages the detailed Plan forecasting process and coordinates with Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure consensus with Financial Plan.
• Functions as liaison between sales, marketing and operations to resolve supply issues and capitalize on unforecasted revenue opportunities.
• Supervises the analysis of forecast results on an ongoing basis. Reviews and evaluates the statistical forcasting tools, analysis and forecast accuracy.
• Perform liaison role between sales, marketing and IS on forecasting tool.
• Works with Marketing, Sales, Finance and Supply to understand the company’s long range goals and policies in order to develop forecasts to support the strategic plan.
• Supervises the sales collaborative input process and the development of key account and regional forecasts, and take direct, prompt, and constructive action based on forecast deviations.

This position is responsible for Financial Planning & Analysis for a specific Business Development team, including:
• Leading the sales and marketing functions through the annual budget and strategic planning process.
• Ensuring accurate and timely reporting on the financial performance of the Team.
• Ensuring financial and strategic analysis is performed on sales projects and pricing decisions.
• Preparing customer business reviews, developing specialized customer reporting, researching customer concerns, and performing special projects in support of customer agreements.
In order to meet the information and financial reporting needs of the Marketing and Sales Division, the position routinely interacts with all levels of management (including the President) in providing budgeted, forecasting, strategic planning, current activity, historical and analytical information. The position requires an individual who can organize and coordinate the work of a team of responsible individuals to provide accurate, timely and meaningful information and resolve complex issues while meeting established ongoing day to day quality and customer service objectives. In addition to these basic responsibilities, the incumbent is challenged to recommend and implement significant improvements to existing systems and procedures.
Performance is measured by the quality and accuracy of the Demand Plan, and by the level of leadership and support provided to management in the functional areas of Sales & Marketing. The support provided should be timely, accurate, and innovative. Performance will be enhanced by the incumbent’s ability to become immersed in the operations of the Company where opportunities exist to improve business practices, implement controls, and influence business decisions.
Qualifications
To be successful, the Finance Manager, Planning & Analysis must have a strong understanding of our customer base and business model, along with an understanding of sales, marketing and product economics. The incumbent must have an accounting or finance degree and the technical skills required would be evidenced by 8 or more years of progressive finance and accounting management experience and a CPA, CMA and/or MBA designation. The incumbent must have a good knowledge of general business principles, information systems, and manufacturing. The ability to effectively interact with senior management, build teams, and implement systems and operational improvements are critical to this position.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RELATIVE WEIGHT:
Note: Relative weight anticipated to shift overtime as the Demand Planning process is up and running. Future weights likely to be skewed more towards Financial Analysis, and will depend on candidates strengths.
50% 1. Provide leadership and analysis for the Demand Planning process, to ensure our Demand Plan is accurate at the Macro and Micro level.
30% 2. Provide Financial Leadership and insight for the Business Development team.
10% 3. Integrate quality into all aspects of Demand Planning Function. This will be evidenced by accuracy of forecasting, reporting, interpretive analysis, and usefulness of data reported, as well as the implementation of improvements to current systems and procedures.
10% 4. Provide leadership by demonstrating commitment to and communication of plans and actions required to support the company vision. This will be accomplished through direction, providing inspirational motivation, and developing the potential of our fellow employees.
