The Senior State and Local Income/Franchise Tax Manager position works with minimal supervision in the completion of complex tasks and functions as a technical tax advisor. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and reviewing the work of tax staff accountants.

Primary duties include:
Researching advanced state and local income tax issues, which includes working with taxing authorities and outside advisors as necessary
• Analyzing effective tax rate posture and cash tax position for domestic subsidiaries
• Managing and optimizing state credits and incentives
• Developing transfer pricing strategy and support for domestic jurisdictions
• Assisting with developing audit defense strategies and best practices for state income and franchise tax audits
• Analyzing and commenting on proposed legislation in various state and local jurisdictions
• Researching and implementing planning strategies with respect to new business initiatives
• Researching and implementing planning strategies with respect to existing domestic structure
• Reviewing financial data for proper application of tax laws, structures
• Advising on development and maintenance of accounting systems which provide tax information required to be reported
• Assisting with managing SOX 404 compliance and implementation of best practice procedures
• Maintaining and communicating knowledge of past, present and potential future tax laws, regulations, rulings, procedures and court decisions
• Drafting and submitting letter rulings to taxing authorities

This is a high visibility position that requires extensive interaction with the company’s business units, so potential candidates should be able to work well with cross functional lines. The candidate must be able to communicate complex tax concepts in ways that are easily understood by non-tax professionals.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of state and local income/franchise tax experience with a public accounting firm or law firm, and/or Multinational Corporation. This opportunity requires excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough understanding of state and local income/franchise tax provisions.

Candidates must possess a J.D., or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a CPA and/or MST (preferred), and be:
• Detail oriented, organized and able to deliver on tight timelines
• Highly motivated, hard working, and able to work in a fast paced environment
• Able to clearly and concisely interface with all levels of management
• Able to extract, analyze, and review statutes, regulations, case law, as well as data and make appropriate recommendations
• Able to work effectively in a team environment both within the department as well as outside of the department
