Description
Summary:

Directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, controlling, integrating, and completing engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans and implements engineering project including defining the project philosophy and purpose, activities, milestones and staff requirements. Develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the assigned engineering project. Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly. Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.

Identifies in-house customer requirements, Company operational needs, maintenance issues and coordinates with supporting organization managers to meet project objectives. Oversees and assigns project personnel, contractors and consultants to specific phases or aspects of the project. This includes technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, technical plans, start-up and testing.

Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents and bid packages. Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, Company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications. Coordinates activities involving technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems. Directs integration of technical activities and products. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.

Interfaces with end-user to provide project status reports and ensure needs are met. Produces final project documentation and working maintenance records.

Maintains competency and professional currency through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses recommended by supervision.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

Must possess thorough understanding and knowledge of engineering principles. Must be analytical and detail oriented. Must possess ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects or phases of a project simultaneously. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment and involve others in team approach.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field (preferably mechanical or civil) with two to three years of related experience desirable.
