JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing methods, operation sequences, and processes for the fabrication of machined parts and sub-assemblies for automated manufacturing systems.

As a liason between the Manufacturing and Design Engineering teams, the Manufacturing Engineer works on assignments that are complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. This position normally receives no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Participate in design reviews for manufacturability and realization of project hours in assembly and the machine shop.
2. Review drawings of proposed and released designs for accuracy, material selection, DFM, finishes, hardness, etc.
3. Interact with Design Engineers and Machinists/Technicians to troubleshoot geometry, specification, and/or assembly problems as they arise.
4. Interact with suppliers/vendors to answer questions, clarify intent of design while effectively dealing with cost and schedule constraints. Participate in the development/maintenance of workmanship standards.
5. Design and/or select fixtures and tooling for manufacturing high volume parts/assemblies.
6. Collaborate with shop floor supervisors to optimize machining and assembly processes.
7. Actively pursue cost reduction ideas for standard product designs.
8. Coordinate standard product manufacturing changes with internal and external customers. Responsible for the ECO/ECR process and ergonomic design of workstations.
9. Plan facility layouts to optimize workflow.
10. Perform S.W.O.T analysis on high risk designs being released.
11. Ensure proper use of set up techniques.
12. Ensure proper use of scheduling systems and application of Dispatch Sheets and Capacity/Load planning.
13. Responsible for adhearing to the performance measurements related to the Manufacturing Engineering Department.
14. Meet agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
15. Arrive to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
Qualifications
ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures and work instructions in compliance with corporate, federal, state and OSHA laws and regulations.
2. Assist as required to correct non-compliances and implement changes to ensure site compliance for all Environmental, Health and Safety regulations.
3. Comply with all emergency response procedures and employee responsibilities to ensure safety of all employees
4. Recommend process improvements to make the facility a safe and environmentally-friendly workplace.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES
1. Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
2. Assists in formulating departmental strategic plan.
3. Serves as a member of various employee and organizational committees.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or an Associate’s Degree and four years of experience in Manufacturing.
2. Preferably a Journeyman’s card/Four year apprenticeship program.
3. Four years’ experience either in a production or job shop environment.
4. Very good knowledge of Solid Works and Auto Cad.
5. Microsoft Office: Advanced knowledge of Excel and Access is preferred as job duty will require providing customized tools to track/sort large quantities of data.
6. Experience with highly regulated processes (example: medical/pharma).
7. Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communications skills. This position requires the employee to be an excellent communicator to effectively work with both internal and external customers.
8. Valid State Driver’s License.
