JOB SUMMARY
This position fills a supporting role on teams assembled to design automated manufacturing systems for a local Corvallis, Oregon company.

Responsible for designing the required mechanisms and selecting and integrating a broad spectrum of components and subsystems including:
robotics, servo axis, pneumatics, fluidics dispensing systems, vibratory feeders, lasers, vision, sensors, and conveyors.

Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Create designs that satisfy contract specifications and all applicable design standards while meeting material budget constraints.
2. Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs.
3. Analyze engineering drawings, and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. in the development of equipment, processes and products.
4. Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering Manager to create an Engineering Deliverables plan that when executed will satisfy the overall project schedule.
5. Monitor and report progress toward Engineering Deliverables to the Mechanical Engineering Manager on a weekly basis. Define and execute a recovery plan if Deliverables are not completed on schedule.
6. On a weekly basis, review and update labor estimates to complete each assigned job. Notify Mechanical Engineering Manager when under or over capacity utilization situations are projected.
7. Give technical direction to Toolmakers, Technicians, and Machinists as needed.
8. Consult regularly with Project Managers to report status, raise issues, take direction, and help where needed.
9. Participate in regular project status updates with Customers.
10. Present designs during internal and Customer project reviews.
11. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to arrive at designs that are optimized for manufacturing ease while still meeting all functional requirements.
12. Follow all applicable ATSOR ISO procedures.
13. Promote a positive professional image of compnay internally and externally.
14. Provide superior customer service to all internal and external customers.
15. Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
16. Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent, specializing in mechanical design or mechanical engineering. BSME degree preferred.
2. Entry-level. One year experience designing complex automation systems for the semiconductor, electronics, fiber optics, medical device, and/or pharmaceutical industries preferred.
3. Proficiency with solid modeling (Solidworks or ProE preferred) and ability to detail machined and fabricated parts to ANSI standards.
4. Working knowledge of common machine shop techniques.
5. Must be capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
6. Must be capable of working as part of a team.
7. Must follow an organized, disciplined approach to the design process.
8. Must exhibit professional and courteous communication and interaction under pressure with Customers, Vendors, Engineers, Technicians, Machinists, and other team members.
9. Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills.
10. Valid State Driver’s License required.
